The Song Of The Week Archives

Note: I used to do a thing called Song of the Week..where I posted lyrics to a , you guessed it, song of the week. I stopped mainly because of all of the hoopla over lyrics being published over the internet. I have, however, left these few because they are some of my very favorites :)

Words to previous Songs Of The Week :)

I Never Cry" by Alice Cooper

If there's a tear on my face
makes me shiver to the bone,
and shakes the bed
just a heartache that got caught in my eye
and you know I never cry,
I never cry

Sometimes I drink more than I need,
until the TV is dead and gone,
I may be lonely but I'm never alone
and the night may pass me by
but I never cry.

Take away, take away my eyes...
Sometimes I'd rather be blind.
Break a heart, Break a heart of stone,
Open it up but don't you leave it alone....

Cause that's all I got to give you.
Believe me, babe, it ain't been used.
My heart's a virgin, it ain't never been tried
and you know I never cry.....
and you know I never cry....
I never cry.

Georgia On My Mind

Melodies bring memories
That linger in my heart
Make me think of Georgia
Why did we ever part?
Some sweet day when blossoms fall
And all the world's a song
I'll go back to Georgia
'Cause that's where I belong.
Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind.
Georgia, Georgia, a song of you
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines.
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you.
Georgia, Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind

I'm Your Angel (Celine Dion and R. Kelly)

No mountain's too high, for you to climb
All you have to do is have some climbing faith, oh yeah
No river's too wide, for you to make it across
All you have to do is believe it when you pray

And then you will see, the morning will come
And everyday will be bright as the sun
All of your fears cast them on me
I just want you to see...

I'll be your cloud up in the sky
I'll be your shoulder when you cry
I'll hear your voices when you call me
I am your angel
And when all hope is gone, I'm here
No matter how far you are, I'm near
It makes no difference who you are
I am your angel, I am your angel...

I saw the teardrops, and I heard you cry
All you need is time, seek me and you shall find
You have everything and you're still lonely
It don't have to be this way, let me show you a better day

And then you will see, the morning will come
And all of your days will be bright as the sun
So all of your fears, just cast them on me
How can I make you see...

I'll be your cloud up in the sky
I'll be your shoulder when you cry
I'll hear your voices when you call me
I am your angel
And when all hope is gone, I'm here
No matter how far you are, I'm near
It makes no difference who you are
I am your angel, I am your angel...

And when it's time to face the storm
I'll be right by your side
Grace will keep us safe and warm
And I know we will survive
And when it seems as if your end is drawing near
Don't you dare give up the fight
Just put your trust beyond the skies...

I'll be your cloud up in the sky
I'll be your shoulder when you cry
I'll hear your voices when you call me
I am your angel
And when all hope is gone, I'm here
No matter how far you are, I'm near
It makes no difference who you are
I am your angel
I'm your angel

Somewhere Out There

Somewhere out there
Beneath the pale moonlight
Someones thinking of me
And loving me tonight

Somewhere out there
Someones saying a prayer
That we'll find one another
In that big somewhere out there

And even though I know
How very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing
On the same bright star

And when the night wind
Starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping
Underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there
If love can see us through
Then we'll be together
Somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

And even though I know
How very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing
on the same bright star

And when the night wind
Starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping
Underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there
If love can see us through
Then we'll be together
Somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true...

"All By Myself" by Eric Carmen

When I was young
I never needed anyone
And makin' love was just for fun
Those days are gone

Livin' alone
I think of all the friends I've known
But when I dial the telephone
Nobody's home

All by myself
Don't wanna be, all by myself anymore
All by myself
Don't wanna live, all by myself anymore

Hard to be sure
Some times I feel so insecure
And love so distant and obscure
Remains the cure

The Way (Fastball)

They made up their minds and they started packing-
They left before the sun came up that day.
An exit to eternal summer slacking....
But where were they going without ever knowing the way?

They drank up the wine and they got to talking.
They now had more important things to say.
And when the car broke down they started walking...
Where were they going without ever knowing the way?

Anyone can see the road that they walk on is paved in gold
It's always summer - they'll never get cold.
They'll never get hungry, they'll never get old and gray.
You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home but they really don't care.
They wanted the highway - they're happier there today....

The children woke up and they couldn't find them.
They left before the sun came up that day.
They just drove off and left it all behind them
But where were they going without ever knowing the way?

Anyone can see the road that they walk on is paved in gold
It's always summer - they'll never get cold.
They'll never get hungry, they'll never get old and gray.
You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home but they really don't care.
They wanted the highway - they're happier there today...

IN THE GLOAMING

In the gloaming, oh my darling, when the lights are soft and low
And the quiet shadows, falling, softly come and softly go.
When the trees are sobbing faintly with a gentle, unknown woe,
Will you think of me and love me as you did once long ago.
In the gloaming, oh my darling, think not bitterly of me.
Though I passed away in silence, left you lonely, set you free.
For my heart was tossed with longing-what had been could never be.
It was best to leave you thus dear - best for you and best for me...
In the gloaming, oh my darling, when the lights are soft and low...
Will you think of me and love me as you did once long ago?

DON'T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME (Elton John)

I can't light no more of your darkness...
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white.
I'm growing tired and time stands still before me,
Frozen here on the ladder of my life.
Too late to save myself from falling-
I took a chance and changed your way of life.
But you misread my meaning when I met you.
Closed the door and left me blinded by the light.....

Don't let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself it's always someone else I see...
I'm just a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me.

I can't find the right romantic line...
But see me once and see the way I feel inside
Don't discard me just because you think I mean you harm...
But these cuts I have - they need love to help them heal....
